We have proven hands-on experience in all facets of the industry.

Established in 1993, John Turkington Forestry Ltd (JTL) is one of the country’s most prominent forestry consultancies with services ranging from forest establishment, management and silviculture and through to harvesting and log exports.

With an ethos of fair play and respect for land and forest owners, JTL has built a reputation for delivering on its promise and ensuring the best possible outcomes for clients. Due diligence and value optimisation for clients is at the heart of all of our harvesting and marketing activity.

JTL currently manages in excess of 10,000ha of forest across the lower half of the North Island and Southland, markets over 100 truck-loads of logs per day,

employs in excess of 20 logging & silviculture contractors and produce over 800,000 tonnes of logs per annum which are sold both to domestic mills and exported out of Centreport Wellington, Napier Port and Port Taranaki.

The company’s strategic investment in three rail heads at Wanganui, Palmerston North and Masterton has provided certainty and flexibility to clients around access to ports and mitigates the impact of roading constraints and driver shortages on supply timelines and trucking costs at congested ports.

Clients include public and private sector entities, including local government and iwi entities, and off shore interests.

Farman Turkington Forestry was establish in 2010 to service the growing demand for services in the JTL Wairarapa and Wellington regions. Visit for more information.
